We want to showcase the diversity of the maritime sector, support its sustainable transformation and connect interested people and maritime stakeholders with each other.

Navigating through maritime Germany

The Maritime Map is growing – discover the new category which highlights learning and educational spots across Germany. Interesting maritime museums and traditional ships as well as fascinating institutions in the field of nature and environmental protection are presented.

The maritime sector plays a key role in Germany’s overall economy competitiveness with an estimated turnover up to 50 billion euros[1]. The sector’s diversity is evident at the company level as well as among all maritime institutions, extending beyond the economy. Its reach extends far beyond the northern German coastal states: maritime Germany is present throughout the entire federal territory.

With the Maritime Map, the DMZ provides an overview and detailed information about many relevant stakeholders in the sector and visualises them on a map. You can browse through or search for specific institutions or locations. The map lists federal and state ministries, subordinate authorities, seaports and inland ports, and offshore facilities. You also can find associations, research and education institutions as well as maritime bodies and organisations. Since June 2026, the Maritime Map includes a new category depicting educational spots such as maritime museums, traditional ships and institutions focused on nature and environmental protection. Alongside essential background information, e.g. name, location and type of organisation, the map provides contact details and port handling data. Furthermore, information on many maritime study and educational programmes offered by research and teaching institutions can be found.

The Maritime Map is constantly being expanded and updated. In case of missing or incorrect data, we welcome any suggestions via email maritimelandkarte[at]dmz-maritim.de or through the contact form of the tool.

A grayscale map of northern Germany and surrounding areas displays red circular clusters with numbers, representing data points, and several blue icons indicating locations along the coastline and inland.
