Bunkering is an essential maritime service for seagoing and inland vessels in German ports. The Maritime Bunkering Compass enables users to access the regulations in force for bunkering conventional and alternative energy sources across Germany. By presenting the applicable regulations at the level of federal states and waterways, the tool supports the maritime sector in its sustainable transition.

The map-based view serves as a guide, showing which legal requirements apply where and which bunkering modes are designated. In addition, colour-coded highlighting of the relevant paragraphs indicates whether alternative energy sources are already explicitly mentioned in the wording of the regulation.
