Claus Brandt named managing director of the German Maritime Centre

The decision has been taken: The executive board is pleased to have secured Mr Brandt, who is highly regarded and very well known in the industry, as managing director of the German Maritime Centre.

Claus Brandt brings with him the ideal level of expertise and experience for the post of managing director. As a long-standing partner and head of the maritime competence centre at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he has in-depth knowledge of the various sub-sectors of the maritime industry and is familiar with the requirements and working methods of the public sector. His outstanding knowledge of methodology and long years of management experience in leading high-calibre teams will be of particular value to the German Maritime Centre. Mr Brandt will assume his new position on 1 August 2020.

Dr Wolfgang Sichermann has headed the German Maritime Centre since April 2018 and will step down from his post on 30 June 2020. As managing director, Sichermann has played a major role in setting up the Centre, a feat he completed successfully. The executive board thanks him for his outstanding commitment. Ms Tina Ebner, the Centre’s financial director, will temporarily assume the management of the German Maritime Centre in July.

The German Maritime Centre received numerous applications from highly qualified candidates for the vacant position of managing director.
