Change in the Executive Board of the German Maritime Centre

The Federal Ministry of Transport has appointed Dr Alexander Geisler, Chief Executive Officer of the German Shipbrokers' Association, as a new member in the Executive Board of the German Maritime Centre.
3 July 2025

Dr. Alexander Geisler is stepping down from the advisory board and will take over with immediate effect from Daniel Hosseus, who is resigning from the executive board.

Strategic development with new executive board member

“I am very pleased to contribute to the further development of the German Maritime Centre into a central point of contact for the industry and the interested public”, says Dr. Alexander Geisler, emphasising: “The COVID pandemic in particular demonstrated how essential shipping is for the supply of energy, food, and consumer goods – long delivery times brought this starkly to the attention of many. Everyone realised: no shipping, no shopping. This key insight must continue to be communicated.”“

Advisory board chairperson Martina Kohlhaas, who heads the relevant department at the Federal Ministry of Transport, is delighted that Dr. Alexander Geisler is joining the executive board of the German Maritime Centre. “With Dr. Geisler, we have secured a highly competent and experienced representative of the maritime industry for this important position. We look forward to the new ideas and momentum he will bring to the work of the German Maritime Centre.”“

Dr. Reinhard Lüken, Chairperson of the Board, is also looking forward to the future collaboration: “On behalf of the executive board, we are pleased that the Ministry of Transport has appointed Dr. Alexander Geisler – a seasoned industry expert who is known for his clear and persuasive advocacy – to the DMZ board. He has already made valuable contributions in his previous role as Deputy Chair of the Advisory Board. This is a great development – I’m looking forward to it!”

Daniel Hosseus hands over executive role

The German Maritime Centre thanks Daniel Hosseus for his years of service and his contributions to the development of the institution. We extend our best wishes for his continued success and fulfillment in both his professional and personal endeavors.
